Remote Learning - Virtual Mini Olympics

Wow what a fabulous response we had to the Virtual Mini Olympics!

So many families took to the challenge like a duck to water - it was amazing to see so many smiling faces and hear lots of laughter.  Bring on Brisbane 2032 - some talented athletes from Cranbourne South will be vying to represent Australia.

I have put together a montage of some of the videos which were submitted.  Unfortunately I was unable to include everyone's as there were over 200 students who completed the task - it would have turned into a feature length film!

Please know that I watched every single video and felt all the emotions.  To say I am proud of you all would be an understatement.

Sit back, grab some popcorn and have another look at the C.S.P.S Virtual Mini Olympics

A.F.L in Schools Clinic - Foundation & Year 1

We were lucky enough to have squeezed in 1 clinic in between remote learning stints. Avi from A.F.L Victoria came and ran an engaging clinic with the students. The students were shown how to handball and enjoyed playing 'Here, There & Everywhere' , 'Heads, Shoulders, Ball' and 'Ogre's Treasure'.

School Sport Victoria - Q & A session

On Thursday 19th August SSV hosted a Q & A session with two time Olympic long jumper Brooke Stratton. Brooke came to C.S.P.S in term1 and spoke with the year 6 students about her sporting journey.

Arizona, Caitlin and Jesse were lucky enough to have their questions answered by Brooke.

Jesse was given the added bonus of asking his question live during the session.

What an amazing opportunity for our students to engage with such amazing role models.

The Importance of Staying Active

When children participate in regular physical activity, it boosts their physical and mental health and improves academic performance.

Physical activity throughout the day also improves concentration, and the ability to retain information and solve problems.

There are many benefits to being active and getting your move on, but a lot of children aren’t moving enough, particularly while learning from home.

15 minutes 4 times a day is all it takes.

To help support your children to stay active while learning from home, families can access a range of free COVIDSafe ideas to stay active and games through Get Active Victoria.

Families should remember that whatever gets children moving, gets them active.

Performing Arts Program

What little performers we have at C.S.P.S! We have created a safe space where students feel free to express their ideas through movement and step out of their comfort zone. Students are super excited and positive during concert rehearsals and are working well in small groups to create a sequence of movements.

Environmental Studies

Last week we celebrated National Science Week and it was a real eye opener. Thank you so much to all the students who participated and uploaded videos. I had a great time watching them, one of my favourites was from Nate and Indhi who did the mentos in the coke bottle experiment. I can never get mine to go this high so I was super jealous!

Lara also did a great job, check out her video below.
