Message from Aoife

Acting Principal – St John's Footscray

We find ourselves once again in a time of uncertainty as lockdown is extended, however we say a big thank you to our amazing children, families and educators for all you have done in the last week. Once again we hear the words 'flexible, resilience and we can do this'. Alongside that there are no doubt many feelings of worry, loss of connection and exhaustion.  As a school community which is committed to the wellbeing of all, we say: look after yourselves and your families as a priority.

We are again sharing the links below as each instance of lockdown brings new experiences and new challenges for families. Please reach out to us at school too and we can give you specific support.

General updates

The role of Principal at St John's has now been advertised online and a panel will be convened to go through the applications and interview process. We will continue to update you as this proceeds.

Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS) are continuing negotiations with the Archdiocese in terms of installing a fence at the farm. We hope to hear back from MACS soon and will keep families informed as this unfolds.

P-2 Reader Swap - Monday 16th August

If your child would like to swap their readers over you are welcome to walk past the school on Monday 16th August between 8.30am & 9.30am or between 2pm & 3pm. Your child can enter via the Main Office and a staff member will support them to swap their books. We ask families to wait outside if possible to reduce the number of people accessing the office area.

If lockdown extends again we will run a book swap for our Yr 3-6s to swap their Book Club books, date and time will be shared with families.

We will continue to keep families updated as COVID restrictions move/change over the coming days. In the meantime we're looking forward to an online social chat in our hubs on Friday afternoon, check the Gathering Place for codes/times. The best part of any day is seeing our children's smiling faces so this is the perfect way to end the week!

We are absolutely thankful for your support, have a relaxing weekend.

Aoife

Acting Principal
