Year 9 Program
Year 9 and 10 Outdoor Education Camp
The Year 9’s from 2020 (currently in Year 10) and the Year 9’s from 2021 will be going on school camp during Week 9 of Term 3.
The Operoo notice should be going out to all parents/ guardians today. We ask you to fill in the medical forms and indicate any dietary requirements by the end of next week (6/8/2021), so that we can start compiling the groups together for camp.
The camps this year will have a leadership focus. Leadership is the ability of an individual or group to influence and guide other members of the group. Everyone has the power to be a leader, and to practice being a leader we need to be given opportunities to lead. During camp the students will need to complete several challenges that will require their leadership skills to be brought forwards.
We look forward to being outdoors at Lake Eildon National Park and providing an amazing experience for the students.
Year 9 Project Based Learning
This coming week we will be introducing a new way for the students to give feedback to the teachers at the end of their lessons in PBL. Giving feedback to students and receiving feedback from them is a proven way of improving their learning outcomes.
The methodology we will be trialing is called RAG 123. Students need to give themselves a Red, Amber or Green mark at the end of the lesson to reflect on how hard they tried during the lesson and a 1, 2 or 3 to check whether they need extra help to understand what they are doing.
The hope in trying this system is that it will help us address any misunderstandings early on and also get the students to reflect on their own level of effort during class.
