Sacramental Program 2021- Community Update

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We would just like to give you an update on the Sacramental Program. So far, we have celebrated Reconciliation as the ‘Communal Rite of Forgiveness’ for the current Year 4 students who missed out on this Sacrament last year.  We have been pleased to welcome back the Year 6 cohort from 2020 to celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation, with 85% of our students returning to our Parish Churches to be anointed this Sacrament over many weekend Masses. 

On the weekend of June 5th and 6th we were to commence the Sacrament of First Eucharist for our current Year 5 students, to run until the weekend of October 23rd and 24th.  Unfortunately due to the current lockdown some of our students were unable to receive this sacrament as planned.  If you are a family whose scheduled time has or will be affected due to Covid-19 restrictions at present or in the future. Please email the Parish office (eltham@cam.org.au) to reschedule another mass time, as we are having difficulties with our Church phone lines. Hopefully, restrictions will ease and we can go ahead with the bookings as planned, but we are totally under the control of the health authorities with regard to this active coronavirus. 

The Sacrament of Confirmation for our current Year 6 students of 2021 have the following dates scheduled, (which could be subject to change, as a result of Covid-19 updates).

Confirmation Parent Faith Formation Evenings: will take place over two nights. Parents will book in to attend on one of the nights:

• Tuesday 3rd August at SFX Church at 7pm
• Wednesday 4th August at OLHC Church at 7pm

Sacrament of Confirmation 

• Confirmation Rehearsal at St Patrick’s Cathedral on Thursday 21st October (School Excursion).
• Sunday 24th October. Mass to commence at 2:30pm. Children receive the Sacrament of Confirmation at St Patrick’s Cathedral, 1 Cathedral Pl, East Melbourne. Student Candidates from Holy Trinity, Eltham North, St Francis Xavier, Montmorency and Our Lady Help of Christians, Eltham.
