Literacy News

To Term 3 and Beyond!

Term 2 seems to have passed by in the blink of an eye. We have done so much learning and it’s been wonderful to look at our mid-year assessments and see how far our students have come.

We have a lot planned for next term already:

● The whole school will be participating in the LittleScribe Mini Writers Festival during book week. This gives students the opportunity to learn from and interact with some fantastic authors, such as Deborah Abela, Jackie French and James Foley live online.

● Prep to year 2 teachers will continue their Phonics In Context journey, with more sessions with David Hornsby to hone our knowledge.

● The Writer’s Wall will be used to showcase more of our students’ incredible work.

● Deb Sukarna will also be returning to work with staff on our whole school approach to reading. This will consolidate the learning we have been doing over the last 18 months to support students to think critically as they read and to enjoy reading for information and for pleasure.

Classroom Helper Training

Depending on restrictions, we will look at rescheduling our Classroom Helper Training in Term 3. We are looking forward to welcoming parents back into the classroom!
