Dear Families,
The children finish this afternoon at 1pm in preparation for Parent Teacher Meetings via ZOOM beginning at 1:40.
WOW, Term 2 finishes tomorrow at 1pm. Another term has passed full of learning and engaging experiences for the children and staff. We have embraced another period of remote learning with nearly every child and family engaging every day. Everyone returned to school glad to be back with routines picking up exactly where we left off. I thank the children for their care of each other and for the way they engage with their learning every day. Thank you to the teachers who continue to make learning engaging and for their hard work this term and for our Admin staff and Learning Support Officers who continue to work together so that every child is the best they can be in a happy and safe environment.
The process continues with the appointment of the new Principal to Our Lady's. Things were running smoothly and to plan until the slight interruption of Covid restrictions. The process has proceeded to the next stage and an announcement will be imminent. I will continue in my role as Acting Principal until the end of third term after which the new principal will commence.
Don't forget the Trivia Night planned for the 17th July. Plans are still going ahead at this stage depending on numbers. Please login to CDF pay to book your tickets so they know you will be attending.
We farewell Jennie O'Dell and Calvin Mujie today as this is their last day at school . The children and teachers gathered yesterday at a mini assembly to thank them for their dedication and service to the school and to the children and to present them with a gift from us all. The School Advisory Committee also acknowledged Jennie for her time at Our Lady's on behalf of the community. We are very sad to see them go but know they will enjoy the time ahead and we hope to see them again soon.
We look forward to seeing families via ZOOM this evening for semester one parent/teacher meetings. This is an important time to discuss your child's progress this semester and affirm all that has been achieved with their learning, both academically and socially.
Our new teachers Yvette Egonidis (Year 3-4) and Clare Bisby (Year 5-6) spent the day at school on Tuesday planning with the teachers in preparation for next term. They also had the opportunity to meet the children prior to the start of next term. They were both made to feel very welcome and are looking forward to their time at Our Lady's and the exciting times ahead.
Mrs Trudy Hammond, our Learning Support Officer will be taking Long Service Leave next term. Trudy, her husband and friends are setting off into the wild blue yonder to explore different parts of Queensland and the Northern Territory. May they travel safely and have a wonderful time. Brie from OSHClub and Gloria, a current LSO will cover Trudy's schedule.
We farewelled the Brown Family earlier this week. Thank you for being part of the Our Lady's community and we wish you all the very best.
Next term we welcome the Mardis Family, Michael in Year 3-4 C and the Chapman Family, Zahra in Year 1-2K and Alexia in Year 3-4 MS. We are looking forward to welcoming them to our community.
The first Monday of next term, the 12th July is a pupil free day. There will be an OSHClub program in place for children requiring care for the day. Please contact OSHClub directly to book them in to the program at ourladyhelpofchristians@oshclub.com.au
Hopefully by the time we return to school next term restrictions will have eased again and we can welcome families back into the school.
Have a great holiday, enjoy the break with your children and stay safe.
Until next term.
Therese
