Mandarin - Mr Parker

Welcome back to term 3 of our language learning! 

Junior

In term three, students from Junior year levels will be learning to use place value knowledge to count Chinese numbers from 1 to 100. We are expanding our understanding that Chinese sentences have a particular word order by asking and answering simple questions. Students will also learn to introduce their family members in Chinese with the focus on recognising the correct tones in Chinese.

 

Middle

In Term three, Year Two and Three students will continue to learn the word order in making Chinese sentences by asking and answering simple questions about age and time. Students will learn about different conventions in expressing time in Chinese compared to that of In the unit of culture and nationality, the students will further explore different cultural traditions as well as expanding their Chinese vocabulary on the topic.

 

Senior

In Term Three, students from Senior level will be encouraged to use Chinese as a classroom language to conduct daily conversations. In the class, they will interact with teachers and peers in social and class activities, exchanging ideas and opinions, using correct tones. They will also learn to ask simple questions and gather information in Chinese. In the unit of weather, students will use familiar vocabulary to form simple sentences to describe and predict daily weather conditions.

Chinese Leader Meeting

We will continue holding meetings every Friday at lunch break to brainstorm ideas to improve our Chinese learning at Trinity. The Chinese leaders have been responsible and passionate about modelling effective daily interactions in Chinese.
