Principal's News

Mr Rodrigues

Dear Families,

I know how much our children love the holidays but it is clear to see that it is also great for them to be back with their friends.

Visiting classrooms on Monday it was as if nothing had changed, watching children so quickly settle back into their learning routines. Our teachers, whilst also enjoying their well earned break, also spent much time thinking about and planning for the learning which is set for Term 3.  We are lucky to have these dedicated and enthusiastic staff members here at Trinity.

A reminder that this term we welcome back Ms Anna Placket returning from maternity leave. Anna will be replacing Ms Georgie teaching Art. Ms Placket is excited about the Art Show which will be held later in Term 3 and has already begun thinking about how to make this a very special event for our community. We hope to involve our parents as well in the planning and preparation for this event.

Student Leaders

The school leaders and SRC, at this week’s meeting,  identified new goals for Semester 2.

Students revisited their group’s goal for Semester 1 and were happy that goals had been achieved.

Some  new focus areas identified will be:

  • A student survey conducted by the SRC - looking at suggestions for the yard, play equipment, seating outside and toys
  • Ensuring that a class meeting is held every week
  • Encouraging all students to have a say in the class meeting and keeping to a time
  • Promoting the SRC and School Leaders of Trinity with “Wear the Badge with Pride”
  • Continue to promote “Caught being Good” in classrooms and on the yard
  • Nudie Food Day and recycling
  • Sand pit - keeping toys in the sand pit and keeping our sand pit clean

Fr Trung Installation Mass

On Sunday 1st August Fr Trung SJ will be celebrating a special Mass to be held at St Ignatius Church as he is officially installed as the Parish Priest of St Ignatius and St James Parishes.  We welcome any members of the community to join him on this special occasion. Mass will commence at 9:30am and will be followed by light refreshments in the hall.

Fr Trung Nguyen SJ was born in Vietnam at the height of the war in 1974. He and his family fled Vietnam as refugees when he was 7 years old and spent two years in a refugee camp in Thailand. Fr Trung and his family were eventually accepted as immigrants to Australia where he grew up in Adelaide and then Brisbane. His previous occupation was as a motor mechanic.

Gifted & Talented Learners

Last term all teachers completed two extremely engaging professional learning sessions with Dr Susan Nikakis, who is the Senior Gifted Education Officer for Catholic Education. Susan worked with our staff to help us explore who these students are, how to identify them and how to best cater for them in our classrooms. Whilst the focus was on gifted and highly able students the lessons we were able to learn can and will be applied to all students in our school. At Trinity we value the importance of knowing each child's learning journey and being able to target their learning needs accordingly.

Congratulations Cross Country Team

A big congratulations to the four members of our Cross Country Team who attended the Division Event on Tuesday. What a great effort they all put in and thanks to Mr Anania for attending with them so that they were able to participate.

Extend Holiday Program

A very big thank you to the staff at Extend who ran another very successful holiday program for our children who needed care or simply some extra activities to keep them busy and entertained throughout the holidays. We had some great feedback from the children and parents who utilized the program.

Prep 2022

On Wednesday 4th August we will be inviting all new families enrolling their children for Prep 2022 to our, "Make a Friend" afternoon. The activity will take place between 2pm and 3pm and conclude with a get together in the playground after school. We encourage other parents who may be picking up children after school to come and say hello and perhaps share their experience of joining the Trinity School Community.

New School Website

You may have already noticed our refreshed new website which we hope truly reflects our wonderful school and community. As we are still building its content there may be some further changes to ensure it is user friendly and up to date. The video below is one we have attached to our enrolment page to show new families why Trinity is a great school to choose and how easy it is to enrol. As I have stated previously there can still be no better advertising then your word of mouth and the positive messages you give others about our school.

Kind Regards

Mr Nigel Rodrigues
