Anzac Day Service- Kalinga Park

On Monday 25 April, Clayfield College students are welcome to attend the march at the Kalinga Park Anzac Service where a wreath will be placed on behalf of the College at the memorial gates. It would be lovely to see the students of Clayfield College at this very important ceremony. If you would like to attend, please wear your full school uniform with hat, and meet Mrs. Fellowes at 6:50 am at the Memorial Gates where we will prepare to line up for the march. It is a short ceremony concluding at approximately 7:30 am.

Mother’s Day Pop-Up Stall

It is that time of year again – Mother’s Day is fast approaching! Our Friends of Primary Mother’s Day Stall will be held on Thursday 5 May. This year, we will be holding a Pop-Up stall at lunchtime for Secondary students to come along and purchase some gifts in preparation for Mother’s Day.

There will be a huge selection of beautiful gifts available and we are sure the students will find something perfect for their special loved ones at the stall.

Gifts are priced at $5, $10 and $15 and all funds raised will go towards the Friends of Primary Group initiatives. Stay tuned for more information - posters displaying some of the gifts available will be in the Clayfield Collective next week.

Anzac Assembly

The Prep to Year 12 Anzac Day Assembly was observed on Tuesday 19 April. The service was a poignant one where we came together as a College Community to remember and pay our respects to all veterans who have died in war or have been affected by the consequences of war. Our Guest Speaker was Captain Henry Swindon from the 7th Combat Brigade based at Gallipoli Barracks, Enoggera.

Captain Swindon grew up in Clayfield and attended Eagle Junction State School before going to Brisbane Grammar School. After completing school, he attended the Australian Defence Force Academy and the Royal Military College at Duntroon in Canberra. He graduated as an Infantry officer and was a platoon commander at the 3rd Battalion in Townsville. In 2017-18, Capt. Swindon was deployed to Kabul, Afghanistan with his infantry platoon. After his time in Townsville, he was posted to the headquarters of the 7th Combat Brigade in his current role as an operations officer. Captain Swindon emphasised the importance and significance of ANZAC Day traditions, including the ideals of courage, endurance and mateship that are still relevant to this day.

Pre-Prep to Year 12 Pyjama Day: Friday 29 April

Ashburn House will be raising funds to support the Pyjama Foundation. The Pyjama Foundation supports young people living in foster care who need assistance with self-esteem, learning and life skills. On Friday 29 April, students can wear their pyjamas to school and bring a gold coin donation to help support kids in foster care.

Please note that pyjamas can only be worn to school if students are being dropped off and picked up in the school grounds (Boarders are an exception). If participating in HPE lessons, sports gear must be brought to school to change into for lesson time. Closed-in footwear must be worn. Hats need to be brought to school for break times.

Investiture and Scholars Assembly

Yesterday we had the opportunity to celebrate the outstanding academic achievements of our students in 2021. We were delighted that many of our Year 12 Scholars of 2021 were able to join us for this occasion as we acknowledged the excellent ATAR results they achieved. It was also wonderful to share with our College Community the career pathways these young women have chosen to pursue post school. In the Investiture part of the Assembly, our Student Leaders of 2022 were felicitated and presented with their certificate and badge/s.
