Principal's News

Welcome to Term 2

Welcome everyone to term 2.

I hope all the children and parents enjoyed Easter. I was in New Zealand spending time with family and friends for the holidays.

Teacher Shortage

Term 2 started with teachers being unwell. There is currently a shortage of teachers, so we are finding it very difficult to get replacement teachers. Therefore we have to split some of the classes around when teachers are away. We hope that the shortage of teachers is temporary and that we get back to normal as soon as possible.

The shortage has made it difficult for us to replace Mrs Sykes, who left Holy Family at the end of the last term. We will be re-advertising her position. With the support from the teacher agency and our staff, we have been ensuring that the children's learning is not interrupted.

School Camp

The camp was last week from Wednesday to Friday. We took the grade 3 and 4 children to camp for the first time. That worked out very well. They all enjoyed camp and participated in all the activities.

Before we went camping, we had children worried about the food and sleeping in the bunkrooms. All the children who had concerns had no problems at all. I was surprised at how much some of our children can eat. Camp food is always delicious, and they make enough so that anyone who wants seconds can have seconds. Days at camp are full of fresh air and activity, which means the children use up a lot of energy. Sometimes it takes a while to get the children to go to sleep on the first night, but on the second night, there are no problems getting anyone settled down.

Our Patch

Some parents have difficulty with the forms that need to be completed to enrol the children into before and after school care.

Please let us know if you are having any problems at school, and we will get help for you.

Our staff are legally not on duty until 8.30. Many children arrive early, and teachers have to monitor them while preparing for the day's learning. If parents regularly drop their children off early, they will need to organise this arrangement with Our Patch to ensure that their children are supervised.
