Year 5 Production

Maria Chadwick - Music

Congratulations to all our Year 5 students who prepared for and performed in ‘sPlat!’ late last term. After all the Covid interruptions to our lives in the last two years, it was really satisfying to present two performances of the musical students auditioned for back in May 2021. Although it took much longer than usual, I fully acknowledge all who kept believing that we could, and would, somehow … eventually … find a way to stage this production. Thanks for coming on this unexpectedly extended journey!

There are many people in our school community, and beyond, who contributed above and beyond what was reasonable to the success of the show, and we’re all grateful. I included a long list of people to thank in the program, and here I reiterate a few key stakeholders who made a massive difference to my stress levels by helping out with the really big jobs.

Thank you to …

Sharna Keely-West, for your directing talents, vision and partnership;

Melinda Williams, for pulling together the team that sewed costumes so effectively without needing to sew a stitch yourself;

Anthony Moran, for creating minimalist yet effective sets;

Barry & Jenny Johnston, for your work on the poster and program

PMPS Leadership, for guiding the ship through the disappointments of the Covid storm with partnership, encouragement and possibility;

PMPS Staff – especially Year 5 teachers and the Office team – who provided the perfect support at the perfect times!

Finally, Year 6 students will perform in their long-delayed musical, “Pirates of the Curry Bean” in September this year. Please keep an eye out for posters and ticket information in Term 3. All families are welcome to attend.

With much appreciation,

Maria
