Year 12 IT (Timber) students visit Borg Industries
Last week, Year 12 IT Timber students had an insightful visit to the BORG Panel Products manufacturing plant at Oberon.
The students were able to witness first-hand the mass manufacturing of Particle board and MDF products in a factory that runs 24hrs a day, 7 days a week and 361 days of the year. The plant has the production capabilities to produce:
- 1,100m3 of Particle board in a 24hr cycle
- 800m3 of Yellow tongue flooring each 24hr cycle
- 900m3 of MDF each 24hr cycle
- 50,000 lineal meters of mouldings each day
The visit generated fantastic discussion around the topics of Sustainable Forestry, sustainable building products, Chain of Custody Certification, automation, mechanisation, EEO, pollution control mechanisms and much, much more. Borg Industries is also home to Australia’s largest roof top solar instillation.
