Year 12 Drama Excursion to Belvoir St Theatre

Our Year 12 Drama class attended a workshop at Belvoir St Theatre yesterday, and we were the first school to visit and participate in a workshop on site since the start of the COVID lockdowns. Students worked for four hours in their beautiful old industrial warehouse rehearsal studio. The students participated with exemplary focus and commitment. Belvoir's artist, Ms Randa Sayed, who led our workshop, was very impressed with our students, commenting that she had never had such a focused group. The workshop was on devising theatre to equip the students with some skills and strategies to begin work on their HSC Group Performances next term.

Year 11 Drama Annual Character Dinner

On Monday, 28th March, Year 11 Drama students participated in our annual character dinner at Arjunas in Katoomba. The students worked very hard during the term to create and sustain their unique characters. We had an intense and enriching experience, taking their characters out to dinner in public and staying in role for over 2 hours. The night was a huge success and we thank Rosina and her lovely staff at Arjunas for their long term and ongoing support.

Illuminate

This year, for the Senior Production we are having a multi-disciplinary arts event under the creative concept, Illuminate

The purpose of the show is to bring light and joy into the School community after some very challenging times. Drama and Music are working together to create an opportunity for our talented actors, singers, musicians, dancers and film- makers to create and present some illuminating performances.

Year 12 are working on an abridged version of Gilbert and Sullivan’s Iolanthe, Year 10 Drama students have written a short and sharp adaptation of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. Students are performing solo dances, musical duets and making short films.

The School's Music ensembles have also been invited to attend and perform.

The performances will be in a transformed Cuff Hall. We are looking forward to making this a joyful and magical event.
