Kindergarten News

Marram:

Welcome back! It was wonderful to see all of our children again and it was lovely to see friendships being reignited. We were very excited to welcome not one but two new children into the Marram group - Jonah and Hamish! This week the children enjoyed being back in their learning space again, revisiting familiar resources, and discovering some new additions. Autumnal colours are appearing in our experiences around the room, signalling the changes of the seasons. We look forward to a busy but exciting week ahead, with our  Crazy Hair Day flood fundraiser and our Mother's Day concert, as well as another term full of play, friendships, and incredible learning.

Budja:

Even with a short first week back, we still had a very busy and productive two sessions at kinder with our Budja class!

Mother's Day, our Mandarin class, science discussions, dancing, singing, fairy potions and reconnecting with our peers was just the start of our many learning adventures for the week.

The children were so excited to be back, discussing their time over Easter and to share stories through group times and through play.

We have a busy and exciting week ahead, we are celebrating Mother's Day on Wednesday from 1:25-1:45pm. please meet at the normal drop off/pick up area. If you are unable to come, feel free to arrange to send a representative on your behalf.

We are looking forward to an amazing week ahead!

Gawarn:

We have had such a beautiful start to the term and the children were very settled.

We began with taking a vote on what colour play dough we were going to make. Each child was given the opportunity to take a coloured disk of their preferred colour and place it in the corresponding jar. We tallied up the colours and red was the overall preference. This has afforded the children to be able to have a ‘voice’, understand that the final vote stands and supports agency and decision making.

We have had some wonderful conversations about the changing weather and the noticing of leaves dropping and changing colour. We then used the colours at the art easel and made a small world play space of ‘going for an autumn walk’. We would love for you to bring in some more leaves so we can look at size and shape as well.

Our home corner has provided a great opportunity to discuss 'good' and 'sometimes' foods as well as looking at - making cups of tea or coffee with treats as we also discuss Mother’s Day. We are looking forward to seeing our mum’s or special friends to share a gift and sing a few favourite tunes this Thursday 5th May 3.55pm.

Have an awesome week.

Wimbi and Dharug:

We have had a wonderful start to the term. The children settled in beautifully and enjoyed some familiar experiences, as well as being confident and eager to explore new ones.

The dinosaurs have been of a huge interest and we added some to our play dough to create some adventures as well as talking about different shapes, sizes and what they might eat. The red play dough was made by our Gawarn group, however, it was a great part of discussions around erupting volcanoes.

There is much interest and enjoyment at the drawing table. This enables the children to enjoy shared learning exploration, celebrate achievements and discuss ideas and interests. Equally enjoyable is the puzzles area whereby we encourage persistence, begin to sort, categorise and order as well as problem solve.

We have loved using some animals as props alongside reading ‘Old MacDonald had a Farm’. This inspired us to set the doll’s house up for the children to explore and re-enact the story to ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’. This is a fun hands on experience that supports negotiating roles, story sequencing, listening to others and taking turns.

We have also enjoyed awesome craft work as we made our mum’s or special friends a gift for Mother’s Day. We are looking forward to sharing some favourite tunes with you this week. Wimbi group this Wednesday 4th May at 1.40pm and Dharug group this Friday 7th May at 1.40pm.

Have a super week.
