Learning Walks

What may you ask is a Learning Walk?

A Learning Walk is a brief classroom visit utilizing a researched-based tool that provides principals and teachers opportunities to reflect on what students are learning, learning strategies being used, student interaction with the lesson content, and student engagement. Last Wednesday, across the school our School Improvement Teams (all staff belong to a team), English, Mathematics and Wellbeing and Engagement participated in Learning Walks across the school to identify what we are doing well and where we can improve. One tool we use is to ask students the Raise the Bar Questions:

What are you learning? Why?

How are you going with it? How do you know? How can you improve? Where do you go for help?  The answers to these five questions give teachers and leaders insights into how we are going with our teaching and learning experience.

It is such a privilege to visit classrooms and we are so fortunate to have a culture of continuous improvement at MPRPS&K. We were joined by the Senior Education Improvement Leader for our Region Richard Lambert and also the School Student Leaders.

Mount Pleasant's Got Talent (MPGT)

This Thursday 5th May, any students who signed up last term for MPGT will be given a chance to audition. Auditions will run all day with the hope of seeing most, if not all acts. Students will be given their call time by their classroom teacher and will be sent to the music room throughout the day accordingly.  It is important that students are ready for their audition eg. Music notation, instrument etc.  If students need a piece of music to be played for their performance they can inform me and I will be able to find it and play it for them.

Once all the auditions are complete the teachers will compile a list of finalists to perform in the Grand Final on Wednesday 22nd June.  I wish all the students the best of luck and commend them for their courage.
