Chicken Duty Roster

All weekends up until the 18-19 June have now been filled. If you would like to volunteer on a weekend, in the school holidays or go on our backup list, please send in some dates that you know you will be around for. The backup list will only be used when a rostered family is suddenly unable to do their duty, usually due to illness.

Egg Lotto

The next draw will be Monday 23 May at assembly. There will be several dozen eggs available to win so get your $1 raffle ticket soon. The Environment Team will be out in front of the school on Wednesday afternoons from 3:15-3:30pm to sell tickets to parents. Students can also buy tickets in the Passive Play area most mornings or ask someone in the 5/6 rooms. All money goes directly into the upkeep of our chickens.

Fun Fact

Believe it or not, there are more chickens than any other type of bird species in the world – around 25 billion.

There are nearly 8 billion people in the entire world, so that means there are more chickens than people on the planet!

Composting

The Environment Team is keen to get compost buckets into all classrooms in an effort to reduce the amount of food waste from school going into landfill. Currently we don't have enough compost bins to service the whole school and buying more is quite expensive.

So........we're asking school families to be on the lookout for free compost bins. Maybe you know of family or friends who are wanting to get rid of theirs, or you've seen one advertised on FaceBook Marketplace, Gumtree or similar?

Our preference is for compost tumblers as they break food waste down faster, they are easier for the students to empty and most importantly they don't tend to attract rodents as the waste isn't in direct contact with the ground.
