An update from each of the MEC Houses

Green House

Congratulations to all Green House students for a wonderful first term of 2022. Thank you to all the students and families for adjusting seamlessly to the House system. It has been a great pleasure meeting all the new faces (as well as the old ones) and we are looking forward to working with you all through 2022 and beyond.

It was fantastic to see so many students participating in the College Swimming Carnival. Well done to everyone who competed in the events and to those students who dressed in green clothes and accessories and supported from the sidelines. We were close to winning the trophy but settled for second place. Well done to Jos K (yr 12) for not only representing Green house on the day but also making it through to the District Swimming Competition. 

We are looking forward to having a great turn out for Athletics Carnival. 

Green House would like to congratulate the following students for achieving their Bronze ASPIRE award; Georgia B (yr 12), Dana A (yr 7), Harmony C (yr 7), Ella C (yr 7), Jesse D (yr 7), Emma E (yr 7), Ruby G (yr 7), Jackson N (yr 7), Blake S (yr 7), Jaxon S (yr 7).

The Green House Leadership Team would like to wish all students, families and staff a happy and safe holiday. We’re looking forward to seeing everyone back in term 2!

Red House

Congratulations to all Red House students, it has been an amazing first term. It has been a long and tiring ten weeks, especially having not really been at school consistently for the last two years. You have all persevered, strived to achieve your best and really finished on top this term. A big congratulations to the Red House leadership team and staff for their ongoing support and guidance of our students.

We would like to welcome all the new year 7 students to the house this year. You have made fantastic contributions to the house already. Red House year 12 students have settled in well and are achieving great success in their studies thus far.

Well done to all Red House students who participated in the school swimming carnival, it was a fantastic day and we were thrilled to be crowned the victors! We look forward to more glory in term two at the Athletics sports day.

 

Ruby Weir-Alarcon
Ruby Weir-Alarcon

Congratulations to Ruby Weir-Alarcon with her studies at the University of Melbourne Extension Program for 2022. The University of Melbourne Extension Program is designed for high achieving VCE students The. Extension Program studies consist of a first year University subject sequence that is a clear advance on the relevant VCE subject.

A huge congratulations to all the ASPIRE Award receipts for term one your hard work and positive contributions to the school have not gone unnoticed- Kirsten H, Cleo A, Thomas W-A, Sally C, Ruby W-A, Paylen C, Darcy C, Gorden B, Harpa C, Tully D-R, Spencer J, Jack N,  Marco P, Oliver S, Zane G

Blue House

Blue House has shown significant resilience and determination to attend classes in Term 1, 2022. Students have had to relocate their core classes and homegroup locations due to the flood damage. The Blue House Student Leadership team of James W, Ruby,  William F and Kaitlyn F have spent the term learning how to be effective leaders by attending the Halogen Young Leaders Conference. Blue House would also like to congratulate the following students for achieving a Bronze ASPIRE Award this term: Jackson T (Yr 7), Clodagh P (Yr 7), Penelope N (Yr 7), Jackson L (Yr 7), Idan F (Yr 7), Jayden W (Yr 7), Caeleb A (Yr 8), Alannah F-W (Yr 8), Roxy H (Yr 8), Angus M (Yr 9), James W (Yr 12), Kaitlyn F (Yr 12), and Ruby B (Yr 12).

Congratulations Blue House and a great start to 2022 and we hope you have a safe and relaxing break. We look forward to another awesome Term in two weeks time.

Yellow House

Yellow House has had a fantastic start to the year. Students in Yellow House have readjusted to the new college structure, settling quickly into day to day life at the college and have been able to maintain a clean space throughout the term. 

Well done to our ASPIRE recognition recipients on their massive efforts this term!

Mr Baker would like to extend a challenge to all students in Yellow House that the Athletics Cup is ours for the taking and Yellow House needs you to participate in as many events as possible on the day.

Moving into Term 2, the staff are looking forward to continuing building upon the positive relationships formed and challenging students to strive for academic excellence and respectful behaviour at all times.
