From the Senior School Sports Master

My thanks to all who attended Senior Sport last weekend.  Your patience and understanding in the face of the COVID restrictions we are operating under was hugely appreciated.

This weekend we resume under the same protocols in the knowledge that our processes work well.  Could I ask that all attending Oxford Falls exit the building via the Basketball Canteen side door immediately after the game you are watching.

I would also appreciate your assistance on the uniform front.  Boys should not be attending St Pius facilities in open toed shoes or non SPX uniform.  Please reinforce this with your sons.

Attached below are our COVID Protocols

Vote for the World Rugby Player of the Year 2021

Old Boy and ex 1st XV Captain Michael Hooper has been nominated to receive the World Rugby Player of the Year Award for 2021.  He is one of 4 players to receive a nomination.

This year the award has been opened up to a fan vote.

It would be an amazing honour for both Michael and the St Pius X College community if he won this award.  He would be the first Australian rugby player to have received the World Rugby Player of the Year Award.

As a community we can get behind one of our own by going to the link below and placing a vote for Michael.

All players are showing improvement as they return to the court.

Basketball

Thanks to all who kicked off the season with internal trials on Saturday. It was great to see our young men playing sport again. Unfortunately, Redlands are unable to play us this Saturday due to their COVID policy and so we will trial internally. This will be a final chance for players to push their case before the St Augustine’s games on the 27th.

Training: continues for the next fortnight as we prepare for games. The schedule is as follows:

For Oxford Falls sessions boys will be bussed to and from the venue. The buses should return to Chatswood around 5.30 pm.

Development sessions (Dev.): These are optional ‘extra’ sessions are open to all players, though with a higher-level skill focus. They are run by Danny Garrett our 1st V coach and take place one morning and two afternoons per week at Chatswood Campus.

Games: Please arrive 20 mins prior to tip off to allow for uniform organisation and warm-up.

Uniform for games: Boys are to wear their St Pius X Basketball singlet (if they have one). Those without a singlet should wear their PE shirt and will be issued with a school House-colour singlet or ‘away’ singlet prior to tip off.

NSTA Tennis

Thanks to all involved last weekend in making the day a positive and valuable experience. Again, this week each boy will be responsible for organising an opponent and time to play. The ladder and timesheet are posted outside the gym. Please find an opponent no more than 2 places above or below you on the ladder, who you didn’t play last weekend.
