QG Cricket and Senior Softball

Both sports will have their final training sessions next week. It is important that ALL students participating in 2022 attend these training sessions to confirm teams and ensure we are prepared for the first games next term. Please see the app for full training details.

Please note: Parent vs Student Cricket Game and BBQ has been CANCELLED due to the rain.

Swimming

All swimming training sessions will continue next week, 6:30 am – 7:45 am (Monday to Thursday). All girls who have signed up for QG swimming are encouraged to make at least two of these sessions next week.

Clayfield Swimming will continue to offer swim training for QG girls on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 6:30 am to 7:30 am during the holidays. This voluntary QG swim training will end on December 16 and will restart on January 5.

Sports Camps in 2022

The date for the Summer Sports Camp is Monday 17 January to Wednesday 19 January, the week before school commences. All students who have signed up for any Semester 1 in-season sports would have received an invitation to attend the camp. If you have not received an email and would like to participate in any of the QG Sports listed in the Sport Specific sessions of the program, please get in touch with Ms. Christine Barnes at cbarnes1@clayfiedl.qld.edu.au

The P&F is very supportive of this new initiative and have generously subsidised $50 per student to attend this camp to reduce costs for families. The cost for the camp will now be $210 per student, all-inclusive except for lunch on the final day at the Water Park, Oxenford.

Please see the full camp itinerary below. The camp will focus on skill and game development, body maintenance principles and team cohesion and connection. We hope these camps are well received as they are a key element in strengthening the success, unity, and team sprint Clayfield teams are renowned for. Full details have been released via email and the College app.

Volleyball Academy

The Clayfield Volleyball Academy will run again in 20222. Please get in touch with Ms. Barnes at cbarnes1@clayfield.qld.edu.au to collect an enrolment form.

Student Achievements

Aurora Saffery (Year 8)

Aurora placed 2nd at the APDA (Australian Physie and Dance) State Championships last week. In January, Aurora will compete for BjP (Bjelke Petersen School of Physical Culture) in the BjP Queensland "Maroon" Zone Championships; these are qualifiers for Nationals.

Well done Aurora, and we hope your training over the upcoming holidays prepare you well for the start of the 2022 season.

Danni Jones (Year 9)

Last week Danni competed in the U19 years discus at the Queensland Athletics Championships. In a field of 45 athletes, Danni threw 35 metres, which awarded her 3rd place.

Well done Danni, a great result and no doubt a wonderful but challenging experience for you.

It is wonderful to share student achievements with you, so if your child has achieved a significant result in her sport, please send an email labelled "Student Achievements" to Ms. Christine Barnes cbarnes1@clayfield.qld.edu.au  so we can share and celebrate this achievement with the wider community.
