Year 9 News

Hello again everyone and seasons greetings as we head towards the end of another eventful and memorable school year. The year 9 cohort has been a hive of activity over the past few weeks with students working hard to demonstrate their learning and achievement in common assessment tasks, choosing their elective subjects for next year, and for some students, choosing and preparing to enter a different pathway altogether.
The transition to year 10 will officially take place from Monday 6th December. I thank you all for the support and hard work of each family and wish you all the best. With that, I welcome Todd Miller as the year 10 team leader and know that he will take good care of the cohort from here.
Electives
Students have chosen their electives through the online teams form and will receive their new timetables in the coming days. For any questions or queries regarding subject choices, please contact the school on 51323700.
Year 10 Pathways Program
A select group of students have been successful in applying to enter the year 10 pathways program for 2022. These students will commence their learning at the senior campus from Monday 29th November. We wish these students all the best as they embark on the next chapter of their learning story.
Early VCE
Students in year 9 were given the opportunity to select a VCE subject as part of their coursework for year 10. Those students that have taken up this opportunity will attend their first classes on Monday 29th November. Completing a VCE subject in year 10 eases the transition to senior education and allows students to have an extra subject up their sleeve as they enter year 12. Good luck and well done to all the students who have chosen to take up this opportunity.
School for Student Leadership
Five lucky students from year 9 have been enjoying a once in a lifetime experience at the School for Student Leadership, Haining Farm Campus.
Gabby Marks, Gabrielle Bonnici, Victoria Cooper, Ethan McKinnell and Noah Pooley have been enjoying mountain bike riding and canoeing amongst other novel activities. These students are developing their leadership skills and will use these to undertake a community learning project when they return to our campus next year.
Art Project Mural
The year 9s have been diligently working on their mural on marine plywood that will be displayed next year on the Art slab wall behind the Advocate’s Office.
All students have completed their individual artworks and are now working on painting the two background colours of blue and black.
Students are working hard to make sure they are carefully painting around their designs and the white lines.
The mural’s theme is ‘Things I like and that are important to me’. All of these things are pouring out of an old fashioned milkshake glass, with bubbles floating around.
An amazing effort for year 9 Art Project 2021.
Surf Camp
Year 9 students attended Wilsons Prom for a 3 day getaway. There were 9 students in attendance
The weather was excellent and the students had 3 surf lessons.
We all witnessed an amazing sunset (see attached picture) and all slept extremely well. There was a visit from an uninvited wombat who didn’t attend the surf lessons. A great time was had by all and many memories were made.
