From the Principal

Week 1 of term was an exciting one: our secondary students attended camps, our primary children had a day at the Blackhall Kalimna campus and our kindergarten children spent time roaming around and exploring the Arlington gardens and surrounds.

The focus for all our Preshil students was connection to self, each other and to nature.

Having a deep connection to nature is important for both our wellbeing and our identity. Connecting with nature has less structure, allowing young people to flourish and think freely. It promotes creativity and imagination and encourages them to approach the world in different and inventive ways.

Staff arranged an amazing Camp Week for our secondary students this year: the beautiful Candlebark Farm in Healesville (Years 7&8), the fun and challenging surf camp at Anglesea (Year 9) and the wilderness camp at Wollangarra in the Mystic Mountains (Year 10).

Camps are a great way to continue learning outside the classroom and have tremendous benefits, including strengthening friendships and broadening social skills, building self esteem by the partaking of new activities, not to mention the real health gains that physical activities provide. I am always grateful to the staff who spend time away from their own families to care for our students, and create special memories, whilst they are on camps.
