Welcome families

We have had a great start to term 2 with 3 way interviews, goal setting, Investigations and some special visits from Ditto and Harold!

It was fantastic to see so many families come in over the last few weeks to participate in our 3 way interviews which saw many of our students lead a conversation about their learning for the first time ever! They did an amazing job of talking about their reading and writing goals and shared many of the things they have been proud of so far this term. Considering the short and disrupted start to the year, so many students have shown excellent growth already and everyone should be extremely proud of their efforts.

Students across the College have recently set reading and writing goals with their teachers. This is an important element of students having an understanding of how they can improve and what they can practice at home or school to develop their skills. As they practice their reading at home, ask them about their goal and if they can demonstrate it. Students will quickly see the partnership we share in their learning.

This term our 1/2 community were excited to have a visit from Bravehearts and our nervous but friendly lion Ditto. Bravehearts has been visiting the College for many years now, promoting safe and healthy relationships. Our Year 1 and 2 students really enjoyed the interaction between the presenter Mandy and Ditto as they modelled how we keep ourselves safe and have a positive relationship with family, friends and other people. Knowing our good or ‘yes’ feelings as well as our ‘no’ feelings helps us to know if we need to find help and tell somebody.

Although the preps didn’t attend Bravehearts they didn’t miss out. Instead they had a visit from the Life Ed Van and Harold. This focused on healthy eating choices and getting a deeper understanding of our body and how to look after it.

Both incursions have been followed up in class as part of our investigations most mornings where the students are free to further explore the body and how we can look after the physical and emotional aspects of who we are. As the term continues, we are really looking forward to seeing how students will share this new learning with others.

Prep 2022 Open Morning.

It would be wonderful to see many families come to our P-8 Campuses to see our 2021 Prep students at their learning. The tours start at 9.30 and at 10.15 a cup of tea or coffee can provide answers to any questions that parents / carers of 2022 Prep children may have about starting school at Northern Bay .
