Welcome back to Term 2 which has started off in a busy fashion where students are engaging in a number of programs and topics.

Year 9 in the News

Year 9 HAPE students  got to experience a different form of sport, understanding the limitations of parallel sports and physical limitations as part of wheelchair basketball.

Three Way Conferencing

During weeks 2 and 3 our students had the opportunity to share their learning so far this year and importantly, their future learning goals,  during 3 way conferences. I was able to see many of them and saw very mature conversations about their learning goals. This was a great opportunity to incorporate student voice and choice around learning tasks.

Banquer

We are very excited to be a pilot school in an economics online platform called Banqer. Banqer is a New Zealand company who have created this platform focusing on real world financial education experience for secondary school students. Through their experience, students will learn about profit and loss, banking, manage their budget, explore career paths, go flatting with friends and dabble with investing. This program links directly to our HASS unit where our students are becoming entrepreneurs.

Students have been increasing their financial literacy skills and have started to develop a product/system/program following a Shark Tank set up. We look forward to hearing all the students pitches of their product as the term progresses.

SEED   - see Programs Page

At the end of Term 1 and early Term 2 our students were participating in athletics rotations on a Friday for SEED sport. We would like to thank Corio Little Athletics for their support of the program and facilities. To conclude these rotations, all students from years 7 to 12 competed at our schools athletics carnival held at Landy Field.

Congratulations to Freeman for taking out the champion house. More recently students have been participating in specialised coaching and matches in football (soccer), netball, badminton and AFL.

NAPLAN

Year 9 NAPLAN
Year 9 NAPLAN

During week 4 our students in Year 7 and 9 completed NAPLAN which is an annual assessment. It tests the types of skills that are essential for every child to progress through school and life. The tests cover skills in reading, writing, spelling, grammar and punctuation, and numeracy. We are so proud of our students showing resilience through these four tests.

STEM

As part of our specialist program, two campuses have been studying Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) with Mr Noonan. During week 3, these students travelled to the mini golf course at Curlewis, where they studied the course for inspiration in creating their own course.
