National Day of Action (NDA) Against Bullying - Friday 19th March

The National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence (NDA) is Australia’s key bullying prevention initiative, connecting schools and communities to find workable solutions to bullying and violence.

The theme for the NDA 2021 is Take Action Together. This theme aims to elevate student voice, empowering young Australians to join the conversation.

Across this week and next week, as part of our Social and Emotional Learning, classes will be involved in discussion and activities.

The Office of eSafety continues to offer webinars and up to date information to support parents and carers in supporting their children to be safe online. Clicking the link here will provide you with access to the webinars and information.

Pre Service Student Teachers from Australian Catholic University (ACU)

We were very excited to welcome some Australian Catholic University (ACU) Pre Service Student Teachers to St Mary’s yesterday. The Student Teachers will be with us for 5 weeks.

The Student Teachers will plan and teach a unit of science work to support the Faith Based Inquiry learning of our students.

Yesterday, the Student Teachers spent time in the classes they will be working with, observing and getting to know the students.

Shrek The Musical with St Mary’s College

As with previous years, students from Years 4 - 6 have been invited to be part of the St Mary’s College production, Shrek The Musical.

Today interested students met with Mrs Callery, Mr O’Meara (Musical Director at St Mary’s College) and the musical director Ms Emily Wheaton, a talented actor on TV and stage and experienced Director.

Students were given some general information about the commitment required to be part of the musical, about the role they would play in the show. For students who were interested in the possibility of playing a small solo part,  they took part in an informal audition.  Date for your diaries: Production week, Monday 9th August, 2021.

More information will be sent home shortly when details are finalised.
