Learning Support

Caroline Coggins

The Learning Support Team are responsible for running specific and targeted Literacy and Numeracy Interventions, these are mostly run in Years 7 & 8. The team also provides in-class support for students where needed across the School. The interventions that are currently offered are the Multilit Reading Tutor Program and the Quicksmart Literacy and Quicksmart Numeracy programs. Quicksmart has been designed by the University of New England and Monivae’s results continue to inform their research, improving student’s literacy and numeracy. We have had great results with these programs over the years.

Learning Support conducts Parent Support Group (PSG) Meetings, working collaboratively with families and teachers to support the inclusion of students with an identified need. This informs their Personal Learning Plan (PLP), acknowledging each student’s individual’s learning needs.

During examination periods Learning Support offers an Alternative Exam room, providing an environmental variation for students who demonstrate the need for extra support, a scribe, or an alternative environment to complete their exams in.
