“Let us see in all the trials that come to us a sign of God’s love and of his mercy.”
Jules Chevalier, MSC
During Easter, it is important to remember the message of love. Jesus died for us, demonstrating that love is not easy and often needs a great amount of sacrifice. This Easter break, consider what is the most loving thing you can do, and accept that sometimes this will not be easy, but will be worth doing anyway.
Term One finished with a busy time for the Faith and Mission team. The following is a snapshot of what we got up to – more will come in the next newsletter regarding the last 2 events.
Year 9 Reflection Day:
Our theme of Friendship was built upon during the Year 9 Reflection day, which was held at the Hamilton Harness Racing club.
The Year 9 students discussed matters of the heart, including perception v reality, and discussed how they would like to be treated in such areas of concern.
Thanks to Mrs. Mitchell (Middle school Coordinator) and the homeroom teachers who helped make the day work.
St Patrick’s Day casual day – fundraiser for CARITAS.
As is tradition, we once again used St Patrick’s day to dress up in green and pay for the privilege. This money will all be donated to CARITAS, as will the money in the boxes, which are collected during the last liturgy of the term.
Staff formation:
The importance of our MSC ethos is recognised when we get the opportunity to provide our staff with spiritual formation. Each staff member can have their own spiritual formation plan, part of which includes time at Douglas Park. I spent some time co-facilitating a week long retreat recently with staff members from the other MSC colleges.
World’s Greatest Shave:
This annual event takes place on the last day of term at lunchtime. More will be reported on this in the next newsletter.
Stations of the Cross:
The term comes to an end with the Stations of the Cross, the story of Jesus crucifixion. More will be reported on in the next newsletter.
Upcoming events:
May the Sacred Heart of Jesus be everywhere loved.
