Acting Principal

Dear Parents,

There seem to be winners everywhere at COHR at the moment! The weekly Friday Cake Raffles are a sweet way to finish off the week. Tickets are only 50cents and our Year 6 leaders come around to classes for children to purchase a ticket or two or.... Pictures of the cakes we have raffled so far are on the Parents Association page of this newsletter. Thanks so much to all our bakers who have put their names down on the list in the Office window.

Please see below for the winners of the Mother's Day Raffles - a prize per class organised as a part of the Mother's Day stall. Thanks so much to the Mums who came to help the children choose their special gifts and well done for looking away when your own kids were making their choices! Thanks also to Silvana and Maria for all their organisation on behalf of the PA.

We hope all Mums and special women in our lives had a lovely time last Sunday. My crew went to the footy to watch the Bulldogs, so the dog and I had a lovely quiet afternoon - a fine way to celebrate in my book!

Enrolments & Kinder Visits

We would ask that all children who are coming to COHR in 2021, return their enrolment form, as we would like to send you a special gift, welcoming you to Big School. If you know someone who is considering sending their child to COHR next year or 2023 please encourage them to make contact with us as we are happy to chat or take them on a tour anytime.

Our Year 5/6s have been out and about reading stories at St John's Kinder, Guardian Childcare and 3Bees Childcare. If your child attends one of these centres they will receive a bookmark letting your know we have come and shared some stories. This is a great way for our students to share their love of reading and for COHR to give back to our local community. The little ones love the stories too.

Social Media - @COHR3166

If you have Instagram, Facebook or Twitter we hope you are enjoying our COHR posts. School Photograph/ Recording Permission forms, updated by MACS, were sent home two weeks ago. We would really appreciate them all being returned ASAP. If you need another copy please ask your classroom teacher or the Office.

As we are trying to post regularly on Social Media, we are keen to show children's faces enjoying their learning, but we won't be using children's names. We will only be posting the faces of those students whose parents have given us permission.

Walk Safely to School Day

Tomorrow is Walk Safely to School Day. A chance to stop and think about how our children can incorporate walking as part of a healthy, active way to get around. Although walking all the way to school isn’t realistic for many of us, if you have to drive, park the car a few blocks away from school and walk the rest of the way. Regular exercise like walking with your child not only helps them (and you!) beat many health issues, it also gives you a great opportunity to teach your child safe ways to behave around roads and traffic.

Avila and Salesian Visit

Today an Operoo was sent out inviting our Year 5 students to visit Salesian or Avila next Wednesday. The Colleges are providing the bus from COHR and a day full of activities. This is a great opportunity for our students to visit a secondary school, regardless of which one they are going to attend.

Lastly Brendan will be back on deck on Monday, sure to be looking too tanned for us all in Melbourne's Autumn. It certainly has been a wonderfully busy four weeks and he will have lots to catch up on as he chats to us all.

Take care,

Remember to pause,

Jo Cowan - Acting Principal
