F/1

This term in Art, the F1s will be linking to their Inquiry topic of investigating weather, seasons and climates. Over the past two weeks we have been talking about the weather phenomenon of rainbows. This has helped us to reinforce the students knowledge of colour names in Spanish, as well as to practise some new Spanish words such as lluvia (rain), sol (sun), and nube (cloud). The students worked on a multimedia drawing/painting/collage in which they depicted themselves in the type of weather in which a rainbow might appear. We used oil pastels and watercolour paints to draw and paint the background, then cut out photos and drawings to add collaged elements in the foreground. The end results looked amazing!

2/3

In Art this term, the 2/3s will also be linking to their Inquiry topic of Biological sciences. The students are preparing to make some air-dry clay models of an insect or animal of their choice. We have been looking at biological drawings, and learning some Spanish vocabulary related to this topic. Each student has chosen an insect or animal that they will make using clay and used their device to research that insect/animal and its body parts. The students did some preparatory drawings using grey leads and watercolour paints. We are very excited to start using the clay next week!

4/5/6

This term in Art the 4/5/6s will be linking to their Inquiry topic of Technology and Innovation. The students will be designing, printing and painting a piece of 3D printed wearable art! We have been looking at examples of 3D printed designs and artworks, and brainstorming ideas for the students' own objects. Some popular choices have been jewellery, crowns/headdresses, and even a cat mascot that fits snugly over your shoulder. The students have done some preparatory drawings of their ideas and are eager to start using their devices next week to begin the composition of their digital designs.
