A note from Mr Jackson

Transition 2022 Preps
Today we hosted the first of weekly tours of parents of children considering enrolling in 2022. It was a great opportunity to sneak a peak into our Prep classrooms and see them settled and soaking up learning. A special thanks to our Captains for helping to lead the tour. If you are aware of families in our community eager to participate in a tour, please encourage them to make contact with the office.
Transition to Year 7
An information pack was sent home with Year 6 students on Wednesday. This important information pack included forms to complete preferences for enrolment in high schools. Please make sure these forms are carefully considered and returned to our school by Friday May 14. If you require support in completing these forms please contact the office.
Curriculum Day
Teachers will be gathering next Friday to participate in a day of Professional Development around Mathematics. Students are not to be at school on this day. OSHClub will be providing a day of care for students. Student attendance at this program needs to be arranged through OSHClub.
Working Bee Plans (Saturday 8 May)
While our 2022 Prep Information Session is held in the Chandler Hall, parents are invited to participate in the school Working Bee on Saturday 8 May. Starting at 9:00am parents will be blowing, raking and pruning. We are keen to have the final rusted goal posts removed from the oval, as well as clear some drains. We look forward to having you on board. Make sure you stay for our BBQ at 12:00 noon served outside the Chandler Hall. Please make sure you sign in at the staffroom.
Interschool Sport Starts
We will be cheering on our sports teams on Friday as they participate in the first round of inter-school sport against Macleod! Win, loose or draw, we will celebrate their effort and energy!
ANZAC Day Remembrance
Our captains will be representing our school at the Watsonia RSL ANZAC Day ceremony, at the cenotaph on Sunday morning. They will lay a wreath in remembrance of those who experienced so much loss during times of conflict. Our Year 6 and Prep students joined together to create their own remembrance in the windows of the lower building. Make sure you take time to have a look.
Camping Program
This year we are looking forward to an uninterrupted camping program. While our students from the senior 5/6 area are looking forward to getting to Campaspe Downs later in the term, students from Years 3 and 4 are planning to take flight early in term 3. Our parents of students in years 3 and 4 who are eager to find out more, are invited to attend the parent session on Thursday 29 April from 6:30pm to 7:30pm in the 2/3/4 classrooms next week. It will be an opportunity to hear from staff more about what is planned and have any of your questions answered.
Bridging the Digital Divide
From next week we will be contacting parents of students who borrowed devices over the remote learning period in 2020. Ownership of these borrowed devices will be transferred to parents. This DET initiative seeks to provide equity of access to technology and to help students thrive and prosper, regardless of their background. Next week the students concerned will be sent home a letter explaining the scheme and asking parents to complete documentation required for the ownership to be transferred.
