Leading Ladies rehearsal.

'Leading Ladies'

Unit 3, Theatre Studies students have been hard at work, preparing for their performance of ‘Leading Ladies’ by Ken Ludwig.

Students have the daunting task of putting on a show from start to finish. Not only are these students responsible for acting, but also directing and designing. Each student has two ‘production roles’ chosen from; acting, directing, sound design, lighting design, costume design, make up design, set design or prop design.

Putting on a show is a huge undertaking; our own School Production rehearses from February to August.  Unit 3, students have just 12 weeks to produce the entire performance!

About the Performance

Leading Ladies is a ridiculous farce, so you’ll be in for a night of great laughs. It tells the tale of Leo and Jack, two struggling British Shakespearean actors, touring the USA.  After yet another performance in a backwater pub in Pennsylvania goes terribly, they decide to pack up and return to England. That is until… they find in the local paper that an elderly woman on her deathbed is trying to get in contact with her estranged sister’s two children so she can leave them her enormous inheritance. With their (self-proclaimed) wonderful acting skills, what else are Jack and Leo to do but turn up to Florence’s house, impersonate her nephews and swindle the cash. It sounds like a great plan until they discover these nephews are actually nieces.

As you can probably guess, things don’t go according to plan!

We would love to see you come and support our Theatre Studies students and have a great night of laughs in the process.

Year 8 Ceramics

Students in Year 8 Ceramics have finished their Significant Person pieces!

While their artworks are being fired and glazed, they are creating tiles that reflect life in our local area. These tiles will be used together to create a mural that celebrates Lilydale High School’s Centenary.  The students’ enthusiasm was infectious!

Thank you Ms Young and 8D for inviting me to share their class.
