Year 11 Study Skills
Everyone in Year 11 has settled into VCE life at this point in time. We have continued to complete SACs in all our subjects and there has even been a camp for the Outdoor Ed students.
These students had the chance to explore Cape Liptrap, Phillip Island and the Mornington Peninsula, looking at the relationships between indigenous and non-indigenous lives and got to snorkel and adventure.
Recently, all of this year’s Peer Support leaders were treated to a lunch and presented with their certificates for all their hard work, running sessions for the new Year 7’s and helping them settle into high school life. This has been such a valuable program for all involved and we would like to thank Mr Webb and Ms Robbins for all of their hard work and time to make this program as amazing as it was.
Holidays are fast approaching and we hope everyone takes this opportunity to relax and take a break from all your hard work in order to return next term nice and refreshed and ready to tackle our next challenges!

Year 11 Captains
Congratulations to everyone on such a strong start to Year 12! As we are coming close to the end of the term, the Year 12 morning breakfasts continue to keep students motivated on their Friday mornings.
As an end of term tradition, we were fortunate enough to receive coffee and morning tea from Ms Powson and the coordination team. A big thank you to Mr Ross who sacrificed his time in order to build our morale for the tough final weeks of Term 1.
In other news, the Year 12 Theatre Studies class have released tickets for their performance of Leading Ladies on Thursday 2 and Friday 3 May. It is a tale of two struggling British Shakespearean actors touring the US.
Tickets are $10 for students and $12 for adults. Please come along and enjoy the show!

As we round out this term we wish everyone a lovely and safe holidays.

Room V8 is the new SILENT STUDY ROOM for VCE students.
Students wishing to use this space to study, will need to visit the VCE Office and speak to a Coordinator to sign-in. They will also need to take a numbered card from the folder and replace it with their student card.
This room is being tightly monitored to ensure that students have a silent area to study in and complete work.
It’s been great seeing VCE students make the most of this room over the last fortnight.

Last week, the IPT schedule for Term 2 was released to all VCE students on both Compass and the Year 11 and 12 Google Classrooms.
Make sure you check this carefully to see when your SACs are for next term and plan accordingly.
Recently, the VCAL students helped build the new retaining walls behind the P classrooms.

A PDF was placed on the Year 11 Google Classroom site last week with interview times for Year 11 Careers interviews.
Year 11 students are asked to make a note of when their interview time is and complete their Career Action Plans on Compass in preparation.

Absences
It is a requirement at Lilydale High School that students attend all timetabled classes so that teaching and learning opportunities can be maximised.
If students have reached their limit for absences from class, there is an opportunity for this time to be redeemed. Students can speak to their Year Level Coordinator to discuss making this time up at lunchtime, during afternoon Study Periods or after school.
Furthermore, it is a requirement that students attend Home Group, even if they have Study Periods, Periods 1 and 2.
Any absences from school must be parent/guardian approved. You can do this through a signed note or you can approve your child’s absences via the Parent Approval Button on Compass.
You can also use Compass to view your student’s past absences.
