Year 7  & 8 SEAL French Classes

Students in the Year 7 and 8 French SEAL classes have been rehearsing a play in French, Les Trois Petits Cochons, with Madame Pradier. They will be performing this play to other French classes once they have perfected it.

Year 7 Indonesian

Year 7 students of Indonesian have been learning how to describe clothing and have looked at the way that batik cloth is produced and have discovered that it is used to make clothing, cushions, bags, works of art and souvenirs.

RIO 2016 Olympics

As teachers and students of French and Indonesian, it is always interesting to follow France and Indonesia during the Olympic Games.

At the moment, in Rio de Janeiro, the French have won more than 30 medals, with eight gold, while on 17 August, 2016 Indonesia won its first gold for the games in the Badminton Mixed Doubles. The date is significant for Indonesians as it is the 71st anniversary of Independence from the Netherlands. 

This year, the French have won their medals in a variety of sports including Equestrian, Judo, Sailing, Canoe Slalom, Swimming and Athletics. In all of the Olympics in which Indonesia has taken part, they have only won gold medals in Badminton, with silver and bronze medals in Weightlifting and Archery.

During the recent visit from the students from Sulawesi, Indonesia to Lilydale High School, the teacher accompanying the students commented that Indonesians love soccer, basketball and badminton, but it is just too hot and humid for people to feel that they want to participate in sport. One of the Indonesian girls was in a PE class while at LHS and was invited to join in and play badminton. She said that she wasn’t very good, but played anyway and proceeded to show that her skills at badminton far exceeded the skills of the LHS students. They were very impressed.
