Primary News

From the Assistant Principal...

Welcome back everyone and a special welcome to our preps and to all our new students!

It has been a really smooth start to the term, congratulations to our students for settling into their new grades so well.

Most book packs have arrived and materials have been unpacked, ready to be used. If you have any difficulties in getting a book pack for your child, please contact me as soon as possible.

Once the essential items payment has been made, students will receive their diary, which is an important part of their school materials. Payment for the essential items can be made at the office or via Qkr. Should you have any questions or require financial support, please come and see me.

One of our first community activities for the term is our annual Twilight Sports evening to be held on Thursday 23rd February. It is a wonderful opportunity to meet the teachers and other families in a relaxed atmosphere, enjoy a barbeque and of course join in some fun activities.

Once again our students will have the opportunity to participate in an interest based activity every Friday afternoon in our Clubs program. Of course we welcome support from parents! If you are interested in helping in any of the following activities, please let me know.

The activities on offer are: gardening, dance, knitting, craft, indoor board games, yoga/mindfulness, coding, outdoor games, Zumba/fitness, film making and African drumming.

I look forward to meeting you for a coffee and a chat.

Primary STEM Centre

This year we have an exciting new Primary Specialist subject, STEM.

What is a STEM?

Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, in simple terms,  is an area that allows for creativity and innovation to occur so that students can engage in learning experiences that allow them to make real life connections and solve problems.

For example, within STEM our students will be presented with challenges that encourage them to design, engineer, fabricate, create, build, code and collaborate.

We are so excited to bring this opportunity to our students, but as this is a new program we need more materials and are hoping you may have some of the items listed below that we can use:

  • Kid friendly tools - screwdrivers, wrenches, safety glasses, measuring tapes
  • Old electronics
  • Wheels and axles from old toys
  • Wires, pipe cleaners/chenille sticks
  • Speakers
  • Toys: lego, building toys, science kits, broken toys
  • Packaging materials such as bubble wrap
  • Cardboard, including cardboard boxes
  • Newspaper
  • Paper towel tubes, popsicle sticks, paint stir sticks, buttons, origami paper
  • PVC pipe
  • Storage containers: plastic tubs, organizers with drawers such as metal toolboxes used for automotive tools

If you have any of these items that you are willing to donate please bring it along on your child’s STEM day or contact
