Wellbeing News

Horizons of Hope is the education framework for the Archdiocese of Melbourne. Horizons of Hope draws on evidence-based research to respond to the current challenges within our education context.

The framework is a living document that includes statements across different facets of the school, including Wellbeing.

We have taken a quote from the document to share with you that really connected with us, our school vision and hopes for our students.

“Catholic schools support the experience of belonging by creating welcoming, inviting, consistent and predictable environments. Belonging is enhanced through respectful and thoughtful relationships”.

To begin our year, all classes have had opportunities to set up their learning spaces and develop routines to provide clear, predictable and consistent learning environments. The use of our Ways of Working (WoWs), is a way which helps students to know and understand the expectations on themselves and others around them. Students have had opportunities to build connections with their teachers and peers through classroom activities that aim to foster these relationships. We will continue to embed the Respectful Relationships Education this year and see the importance of helping students build and maintain healthy and positive relationships with each other and themselves.

We know that the impacts of COVID are still being felt by many in our community. The consistent and predictable routines of home life and relationships may be different to what they once were, as our lives have continued to change and adapt. There are many resources in our community that are there to assist or support families in need. We will continue to provide links and resources in our newsletter that may be of assistance.

Parent line is a free confidential and anonymous counseling and support service for parents on parenting issues.
