VETiS Programs in 2022

This year, Westall is delivering VET (Vocational Education and Training) Certificate II in Sport and Recreation through VET Lab for Schools, for a group of our talented students under the expert direction of Mr Jason Tickner.  In addition, we have 60 Senior School students attending external VET programs at various Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) or tertiary institutions. Students are enrolled in a diverse programs such as: Animal Services, Automotive (Mechanical) and Paint and Panel, Allied Health Assistance, Building and Construction (Carpentry), Early Education and Care, Screen and Media and Interior Decoration, and, DIPLOMA OF AVIATION (PARTIAL) - COMMERCIAL PILOT LICENCE at Brentwood Secondary College

VET subjects contribute to either the VCE or VCAL Certificate and can be undertaken by students in Years 10, 11 and 12 and mature Year 9s.  All VCAL students must undertake a VET subject.  VET is suitable for all students, whether it is to gain an early start to an apprenticeship, try out career options or boost their ATAR, or to get some skills that help their prospects in employment.

SBAT in VCAL and VCE

School-based Apprenticeships and Traineeships prepare our students with a pathway whilst they are at school and beyond Year 12.  They learn employability skills and earn anywhere from $11 per hour to $12.95 depending on their age and their working hours.

We take this opportunity to thank our largest providers REECE, National Food Institute (NFI) for Warehousing and Horticulture, VFA, and U Train for their support.

We are delighted to have a few of our VCE Year 12 students undertaking SBATs with VFA and U Train in Childcare, Individual Support,  Educational Support and Health; they are to be congratulated in managing their school workload and this SBAT so well.  Other students are undertaking an SBAT in Childcare.

We have also had a very successful start to our SBAT Horticulture program with NFI, with 12 of our VCAL students undertaking Certificate II in Horticulture. These students get to work every Wednesday in Keshava Reserve in Dandenong assisting grounds staff from the City of Greater Dandenong. Every Friday, they do their assessments and modules on our school premises whilst beautifying our school by trimming roses, weeding and working as part of a team with their Trainer, Faisal.

Congratulations students and thank you for your hard work.
