YEARBOOK DISTRIBUTION TOMORROW

As per the Flexischools notice, yearbooks will be distributed to families tomorrow.  If you would like to purchase an additional copy (one copy distributed per family) please contact Reception.

PAUSE ON DONATIONS - BHCS UNIFORM

We have been inundated with bags of uniform coming in for donation - which is fantastic, thank you. But we have reached capacity at this point in time.

**NO donations will be accepted until further notice**

Donated Items will be listed for sale on the Facebook 'BHCS Uniform Buy Swap Sell' page. Money for donated items is given to 'Pulse' - our parent run group (previously known as PFA).

Pulse is where parents gather to share ideas, serve the parent community, and simply get to know one another. It is overseen by our Principal and Promotions team.

SEM 2 REPORTS UPDATE

Semester 2 reports for students in Prep to Year 11 will be emailed home to families. This should occur within the final week of school, unless there are unexpected delays. Year 12 students will not be receiving reports as their results are issued externally.

A small number of changes to reports have been implemented in order to accommodate the impact of this year's lockdowns and Learn From Home periods. More information regarding these changes will be included in the cover letter of your child's report.

Should you not receive your child's report via email by the end of the final week (Friday, December 17),  please email reports@bhcs.vic.edu.au and someone will look at resolving the issue to ensure you receive the required report.  Queries regarding subject matter and grades should be directed to the teachers concerned.

LOCKER CLEANOUT

Families are asked to remind their children about ensuring everything is removed from their locker by the end of the school year.  Remaining items found in or around lockers will be disposed of.

MEDICATION COLLECTION

Families are reminded to collect all medication from Sickbay/Reception at the end of the school year - including Epipens, inhalers, antihistamines.  Medication not collected at the end of the year will be disposed of through a chemist.  As Epipens are considerably expensive, we strongly encourage families to place reminders on their calendars.

please email the office at accounts@bhcs.vic.edu.au

WELL DONE HARRY!

Harry's (Year 8) family home was destroyed by storms on June 9th this year.  In response to the tragedy, Harry identified the opportunity to make a difference to the community, connect with other families who had also experienced the devastating storm, bring hope and help start their healing journey. "Hope Bracelets" was born and his website launched.

He received an initial donation of $250 through Council networks, found a local wholesale supplier and the gemstone bracelets were bagged and labelled.

250 Hope Bracelets were shared and 250 connections made at the Kalorama and Olinda Emergency Relief Centres during July, August and September 2021.

Over the past 5 months, Harry has shared more than 500 Hope Bracelets and had over 330 unique visitors to the website and over 650 page views. A small gift with big intentions.

In August this year, Harry was chosen as a finalist in the Edstart Achievement Awards in the Social Impact category and received a grant - it is a national program for school children who are making a difference in their communities.

The grant of $250 enabled Harry to purchase and package more Hope Bracelets which were given away.

In October, he was successful with his application to Regional Arts Victoria – Creative Recovery Small Grants: 2021 Storm, for Hope Bracelets and received a grant of $1500 to share more bracelets with the hills community.

Harry has been selected by Yarra Ranges Council to be the Youth Spotlight for January 2022 as a way of highlighting his community initiative.

Hope Bracelets is a symbol – giving hope, providing optimism, a sense of community and helping people feel stronger together.

Well done Harry!
