A strong start for Year 7

Alesio’s First Experience at Epping Secondary College

I first walked into the school from the soccer area, there were a lot of people walking around, I found my name on some lists that were taped onto a window where everyone was and then I waited. I was so excited but nervous too, suddenly the bell rang and everyone started lining up, I found my class (7G) and followed the teacher, we all went to the soccer field and lined up, we all sat down and the teacher started talking, after a while everyone got up and went to their home-group classes.

Once we came into the class we had to push the tables into rows and move chairs behind them, once all the tables and chairs were fixed everyone got out their Diaries and we all started writing our timetables and some important information, after a while we started our first lesson, It wasn’t really a lesson more like a brief discussion about rules and high school stuff. The bell rang and we all went out to get lunch.

I finished eating my lunch and went on my laptop, I just played some games to pass the time, I finished playing my game and conveniently the bell rang, I packed up my laptop and headed to my next class, I went to the science room and we did some activities, we wrote our names on some small papers and put them in front of our desk so people knew our names, we also did another activity which was asking people questions and answering the questions on our sheet, before I knew it the class was over.

I headed to my last class before the second lunch break. (Music Class) In music class our music teacher took us to a quick assembly, after a long but important assembly we all got up and went back to the music room. We talked about stuff and didn’t do much really, there wasn’t much time so the bell went almost straight away.

I ate my lunch and went on my laptop again, this lunch was long and hot, I walked around the school and got to see how amazing and creative it is, it was a fun creative place, there’s art and many more cool things people can check out, lunch was over and I went to my last class of the day. (Italian) This class was so fun we said words in Italian and wrote a cover page for our Italian books, the class was fun but time flew by, the bell rang and everyone left, I packed my things and left too, the school was massive so I got lost for a while but found my way out a bit later, overall my experience was amazing and I never thought school could be so fun, Epping Secondary Collage is the best High-School to go to in my opinion.

We asked some year 7 students at Epping Secondary College about their experience and favourite part of their first day at Epping Secondary College

Liana,

“My highlight of yesterday was meeting new people and learning about the school,

It was fun meeting new people, I’m a bit shy so it was nice meeting some new people.”

Alyssa,

“My highlight was meeting all the teachers that we had, they’re all so caring and really funny. I also like getting to know our class mates and our friends. I loved chatting to people I’ve seen outside, I liked being organised and ready for our classes.”

Damien,

“My favourite part of my first day at Epping Secondary College was when Mr Kaska came into our room and started telling his jokes and when it was lunch time and I was with my friends, these are my favorite parts because Mr Kaska was telling his weird and interesting jokes and because I got to walk and talk with them.”

 Charlotte

“My favorite highlight of Monday was Info tech, I absolutely loved talking about the technology because I wrote down a whole page on how Laptops, Computers, Phones and video games are my favorite thing to do when I am bored, talking about computers just makes me feel relieved from talking about the things that I love.”

Chantelle S,

“My highlight is getting to know the school better and getting to know people from my class. I'm a shy person, so getting to know people my age is a good achievement. Normally, I get lost in big places, so I hope that I will adapt to the school quickly.”

Julian M

“I enjoyed when we had art class because I got to know everyone.”

Eli
