Celebrating our 2021 successes

At Epping Secondary College we have a strong and proud tradition of ensuring pathways of learning success for our students.   Our school vision of ‘Learning for Life’ ensures that our students develop academically and equally as important, develop self-esteem, confidence and social competence.  The release of VCE and VCAL results today continues to reinforce that successful pathways are grown, supported and developed through the strength and collaboration of our own school, Epping Secondary College and also the broader Victorian Government School system in and around Epping.

Our school community congratulate our Year 12 students of 2021 on their achievements and the successful completion of their secondary education.  Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE), Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) and Vocational Education & Training (VET) subject results were all strong, with students successfully completing these certificates and gaining recognition for their work and effort.

We are delighted to announce, Hannah Reid as the Dux of Epping Secondary College for 2021, achieving an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) of 93.7.   Hannah received outstanding results in her VCE subjects of Literature, Languages (Italian), Further Maths, Physical Education, Studio Arts and Visual Communication & Design.  Hannah has achieved these strong results whilst continuing to be an incredibly talented visual artist and a school leader in the area of Student Wellbeing and Voice in 2021.  Hannah is hoping to pursue further learning at university through a degree in Fine Arts.

There were many other very strong VCE performances by our students across a range of subjects.  More than 10% of our students undertaking a scored VCE achieved an ATAR of 80 or higher.  This included individual student study scores of 40 or higher in English (EAL), Biology, Health & Human Development, Literature, Languages (Greek), Psychology, Further Mathematics and Studio Arts.

In addition to students undertaking VCE studies, we are delighted to announce the successful completion of VCAL by 85 students, 32 at Senior Level and 36 at Intermediate and 17 at Foundation Level.  These students have continued to develop their skills and competencies ready for employment by supplementing their school learning with a Vocational Education course (VET) and with work placements where possible during the pandemic.

There is no doubt that our mantra of “Learning for Life” drives our success at Epping Secondary College.  The Class of 2021 have shown us that our school values, teamed with personal determination, a sense of gratitude and consistent work and attendance can achieve outstanding results.  The pathways beyond school for these students will now start to become a reality as they move to opportunities available through apprenticeships, TAFE courses, the world of work and university placements.

Many people contributed to these achievements, we extend our congratulations to our students and their families, and the teachers who guided the students’ development through Epping Secondary College and also the Primary School’s that our students attended.

Our community is proud of the Class of 2021’s achievements and we wish them every success; in whatever field of endeavour they may choose.
