Library Reading Sessions

Did you know that every English class in Years 7-9 visit the library fortnightly for reading sessions? Students are encouraged to pursue their reading interests by selecting a novel from a variety of genres and enjoy time out from their busy academic schedules by engaging in reading for pleasure.

Students are also encouraged to take their shoes off for reading and research shows that boys who read with their shoes off feel more focussed, comfortable and grounded!

This week all of our students commenced their reading sessions. On Wednesday we had Mr Brown’s Year 7s experience their first reading period where they participated with quiet enthusiasm and borrowed many books to continue reading at home. The most popular genre in this class was dystopian books, closely followed by the fantasy genre, with many students also showing a keen interest in reading graphic novels. It was a delight to see the new Year 7s enjoying their time in the library!
