Assistant Principal Report

"We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.”

Aristotle

It was so lovely to welcome back our girls last week. I would like to warmly welcome our new Year 7 students and any new students to our College. Additionally, I welcome our new staff. Each year as we welcome new members to our community we are strengthened with new gifts to continue to allow our community to thrive. I also take this opportunity to thank our parents/ guardians for continuing to support our plans as we endeavour to keep our community safe while at school.

COVID-smart measures at school

The following points are the safety measures that we have put in place to allow us to prioritise student and staff wellbeing while keeping our school operational.

  • Cohorting
    • Cohorting minimises opportunities for COVID-19 transmission and the potential for widespread infection across the school and wider school community.
  • Vaccinations
    • All staff (including volunteers and providers) on school sites must be fully vaccinated.
  • Masks
    • All staff and students will be required to wear surgical masks indoors.
  • Hygiene and cleaning
    • We are continuing with our rigorous cleaning schedule.
    • Students and staff are encouraged to sanitise hands regularly.
  • Rapid antigen testing
    • Students and staff are expected to test twice a week, on Monday and Wednesday mornings. Positive RAT results must be registered on the Service NSW website or Service NSW app and you must notify the College.

Wellbeing

At Brigidine, we recognise the importance of nurturing the wellbeing of each girl.

You may have noticed that our College bell times have changed this year. This is to accommodate our Thursday Sport Program and to allow an additional five minutes during our morning Pastoral Care period. Such changes will allow for us to deliver our formal PEEC program at the start of each day. We believe that it is important to develop in our girls the skills to deal with the many complexities that they are faced with each day. The PEEC program is a robust, research and evidence based program that we have adapted to suit our context.

I would also like to take this opportunity to introduce our new College Counsellor, Sophia See. If your daughter would like to request the services of our Counsellor then you will need to contact your daughter’s Pastoral Care Coordinator so that a referral can be made.
