Principal's Message

"Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed no hope at all."

Dale Carnegie

Welcome Brigidine community to the 2022 school year.

To those families who are new to the College, I extend a most warm Brigidine welcome. The Brigidine community is one that welcomes and supports all. You are now part of this incredible community and the many proud traditions that are enshrined within its walls.

The term has certainly begun with much excitement and we are so thrilled to have our community together as we begin our journey into what I know will be rich and rewarding for your daughter.

I know each member of our Brigidine community will join me in extending to our new staff, a very warm welcome. We know they have joined a team of dynamic educators. With their skill and expertise, our Brigidine community can continue to thrive.

I wish to congratulate our Class of 2021 for their outstanding HSC results. The College placed 58th within the state and 2nd within Sydney Catholic Schools. This is a tremendous effort for a cohort of girls undertaking their learning in a very difficult environment. There was much to overcome and, as a College, we are proud of their efforts and resilience. On behalf of the College, I congratulate them all and wish them well in their future endeavours. Our High Achievers Assembly, an assembly that recognises the success of the Class of 2021, will be held when we are able to gather as a community.

Over the next couple of weeks we will be hosting our Parent Welcome Evenings.  This will be a wonderful opportunity to hear about various events specific to your daughter’s year group or Stage as well as provide a platform for you to raise any concerns or queries. These evenings, due to the current Covid restrictions, will be conducted via Zoom.

Thoughts for the year ahead…

As part of my opening College address I challenged all students to be grateful for everything we have and recognise that each of us exists because of others around us.  I asked the students the following questions:

  • How lucky are we to be here right now?
  • How many of us appreciate the sacrifice of so many to allow us to be here?
  • How many of us think about the sacrifice of so many in our lives to allow us to be at this point?

Students were asked to ponder these questions for a moment and understand the true meaning of gratitude.

As a community this year I would like to commit to a theme of being grateful for what we have and the opportunities before us—opportunities that have been created by others so that we can have the chance for this moment.

“Nothing is more honorable than a grateful heart.” (Seneca)

I look forward to sharing the 2022 educational journey of your daughters.
