Getting busy in the Art Rooms
Year 8 and 9 students are starting to get very busy in the Art Rooms, with Miss Reggardo doing Ceramics with 8P and 3D Art. We are starting to see some fantastic work being prepared for the kiln.
Be sure to ask 8P what temperature the kiln gets to when their work gets fired! And keep an eye out for the amazing pieces being produced by the 3D Art group. Michael Luxton managed to piece together this stunning pig’s head in 2 lessons!
Year 9 Outdoor Education
Year 9 Outdoor Ed students have been learning about first aid. Today they practiced making fake wounds in preparation for their first aid scenarios.
Year 9 Creative Writing
Writing Piece - by Amber Trevaskis
The wet grass squelched beneath my feet as I trod along the gloomy, makeshift paths of the graveyard. It was dark, too dark. Even the moon and starlight refused to shine upon this place. The only source of light, my lantern, held out in front of my face by my outstretched arm. I had to squint to make out the names in the grave heads. None of them were what I was looking for.
Eyes were upon me, many pairs of them. I couldn’t see them, but I could feel them. I could feel their disapproving glares as I kept moving forward.
I pulled my cloak around me tighter, the cold wind nipping at my fingertips. I feared my outstretched arm would freeze entirely and break off.
My feet began to ache, but I couldn’t let myself rest, otherwise I may never start looking again. Then, I found what I was looking for. “Anna Marbenwell”. The gravestone said. I got down on my knees and brushed the leaves off the slab of stone.
Year 9 Wide World of Food
Students did a Mediterranean food assessment where they had to research a Mediterranean country and authentic food. They had to create a food order and make their own recipes in groups.
Year 8 Science
In Year 8 Science students participated in a modelling practical called Gums to Bums.
The practical demonstrates the action of the small intestine absorbing nutrients into the bloodstream as part of a science.
Over the last week Year 9 students have been spoken to about the Morrisby Profile.
Morrisby is a career insights program that helps students determine strengths and interest areas that will help with senior subject selection and give an idea of possible career paths.
Students will complete online questions and quizzes at school which will help match their abilities, interests and personality to future careers.
