Highlighting 7A

Students in 7A have made a tremendous start to the school year, quickly settling into the routine of secondary school life. They have all done a great job to ensure they can read their timetables properly and navigate their way around the school to all the different classrooms.

I have been very impressed with their learning focus, willingness to make connections with new peers and their ability to use the school values of Respect, Resilience and Responsibility to create a supportive and challenging learning environment.

Our focus in Maths learning has included BIDMAS, Place Value and Rounding Off.

Students have also completed some online assessment pieces which will provide important feedback to me when creating their maths learning experiences for the rest of this term.

In English students have just recently finished a recount about their holidays and a creative writing piece that was inspired by the meaning of their name. Most of the students have also made a presentation to the grade about an artefact that they brought in from home to help share something unique about themselves.

  • There are lots of new people and there are lots opportunities to meet them- Brody
  • There are a lot more subjects to do and I'm enjoying this- Sophie
  • The school gives you a lot of opportunities to have fun and improve your learning- Bryce

PE/Health

The topic for this class was risk taking and safe practices on transport. The intention was to understand the risks associated with different types of transport and discuss strategies for harm minimisation as safe practices when using transport.

Textiles

7A are currently completing their sewing machine samples to demonstrate that they can sew in a straight line, apply the zig zag stitch to their fabric edges to prevent their fabric fraying and generally becoming more confident and competent when using the sewing machine. Once they have demonstrated these skills they will begin making their individual aprons which they are so exited about.
