Work experience is now available for students’ Years 10-12.
Work experience is a valuable program for all students in gaining real life experience in the workforce. Host employers provide insights into the industry and the workplace in which they are located. It provides students with the valuable opportunity to:
- Develop employability skills
- Explore possible career options
- Understand employer expectations
- Increase the students’ knowledge and self confidence
Work experience is also an important step in preparing for subject selections later in the year. Students can explore a variety of work experience with different employers. Students can attend 10 days per employer with a maximum of 40 days in a school year. Host employers are selected by the student with the support of their family and careers.
Students are expected to complete safe at work modules before work experience can commence.

Students undertaking a VET subject are encouraged to match a host employer to their VET studies. This allows students to combine classroom learning with the hands -on industry training. The total number SWL days must not exceed:
- 40 days during each school year
- 10 days during each term
- 20 days maximum allowed per employer
