Swing Band off to a great start in 2022!

If you are not sure what to do on either Friday night or Saturday morning,  our very own Swing Band directed by James Newman is performing at the Bairnsdale Golf Club and the Paynesville Music festival. 

They will be performing at the Bairnsdale Golf Club Swing Night on Friday 25th February. Tickets are available via the Golf Club on 5156 6252. 

On Saturday 26th February the Swing Band will be performing down on the Paynesville foreshore at the market from 10:30 am - 11:30 am. 

Music Student Leadership

This year we have made some changes to the leadership positions in the music program. Applications have been invited for two senior Music Captains. These students will support the music program by compering concerts, providing some practical assistance and being ambassadors for instrumental music. There will continue to be individual ensemble leaders. These leaders will be appointed over the next few weeks.

Music Practice

Now that all our new students have started, parents might be wondering how they can support them in their musical endeavours. Students will need to do some practice and it is important that students learn to manage their own practice. They need find a time, place and practice style which suits them. Students need to set personal goals, identify what needs to be worked on and devise strategies to solve issues with their performance. 

Parents can support practice with friendly reminders, providing a well-lit, quiet space and by offering encouragement. 

Students who practice make progress and there is nothing more motivational than steady progress.

Participation Agreement

There are still some outstanding Participation Agreement forms. Could families please return them ASAP if they haven’t already done so.

There are still some places available for students to learn woodwind or brass instruments. Interested students should see Mrs Green in the music centre.
