Principal's Message

Good afternoon and welcome to the end of week 4, Term 1.

This time across the last two years we had gone into remote learning ….. Yippee, not this year! 😊 Things certainly seem to have settled into a comfortable routine now. With the students and all the staff having ironed out any creases and moving together into the solid work of the school term.

Each morning the 3 Hub teams meet to discuss the events of the day, things to be ahead of, follow up’s from the day before etc. This communication and preparation leads to calm and pre-corrections for the day, that are timely and appropriate. They then meet again at the end of the day to reflect and 'go again'.  I try to join a different meeting each day, this morning was the Senior Hub, and I continue to be so impressed with the work of all the Hub's. In fact across the 'whole' College I’m really pleased.

NO Masks as of Monday ………… another Yippee!  😊

I do have a grumble however! ☹ I have had 4 staff this week who have suffered disgraceful verbal abuse from parents. This is totally unacceptable. Yes, we recognise that at times people can get frustrated and that there is pressure in the community, but there is no way that any member of our College staff should be spoken to in this manner.

Thank you so much to all those families / parents (the vast majority) who address our staff always with politeness and kindness, a sense of working together. I am very happy to chat if you would like to discuss this further.

BUILDING Project 2022.  Stage 2 of our re-development commences next Monday, 28th February ...... another Yippee!  😊

So when you see fences going up and site offices being delivered, you will know why. This will cause some inconvenience during the year, but the final outcome will be extraordinary.

The build is coming in two stages:

  1. The new Science rooms. We will have 6 first class Science rooms by November 2022 big call, keep your fingers crossed)
  2. By the end of December 2022 we will have 10 new classrooms that will present as the new Year 7 Hub for 2023.

If you would like to see detailed plans OR look at the virtual tour of the new facilities please feel free to drop into the College. All of these are on display in the foyer area.

I attended a presentation by Kristen Douglas on Tuesday. Kristen is the National CEO for Headspace. She was amazing to listen to as she reflected on 'Impactful Leadership across Systems'.  She certainly offered the group plenty to think about and ponder.

My ponder is: We are doing plenty right, but we will make mistakes as we push boundaries to always find ways of improving.

Your ponder: What was the last mistake you made? What did you learn from it?

Looking forward to all that we can achieve across the next few weeks and beyond
