Welcome to Term One!

Wow what a fantastic start we have had to term one. Miss Tilley, Miss Wright and Mrs Rowe are so proud of how well the students have settled into their new classes. It is lovely to see all the smiling faces of our students and their eagerness to participate in classroom activities. We look forward to working alongside you throughout the year. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact your child's classroom teacher.

Over the first few weeks, we are focusing on classroom expectations, norms and getting to know each other.

It is important that students feel that they belong, and that they understand the classroom routines and expectations. Each class has continued to learn about our three school values: respect, responsibility and resilience. We have unpacked what the values mean and how they can be demonstrated both within and outside of the classroom.

Each class then created a matrix with ways the students in each class can demonstrate each of the values. These are referred to regularly in the classroom and are clearly displayed in each room.

As part of our inquiry lessons, we have been focusing on how we feel when we are ready and not ready to learn. We explored how our bodies feel in both situations and came up with ways we can help us move from not ready to learn, to be ready to learn. An ongoing aspect of this is our ready to learn traffic light system each student has on their table. Students put their drink bottle on the traffic light that matches their readiness to learn.

OUR SPECIALIST SESSIONS

REMINDERS

  • Thanks so much for providing face masks for your children to wear during class time. It would be great to have a spare or two packed in your child's bag inside a re-sealable bag.
  • All students require an art smock to wear during art lessons at school. This can be an old shirt or a specific art smock. These will remain at school for the duration of the year.
  • Tissues - if you have a spare box of tissues at home, can you please send them along to school with your child to use within the classroom.
