ANZAC Day 2017

ANZAC DAY

On ANZAC day Mr Churchward, Jayden Mitchell, Sam Brasher, Connor Winter, Sam Styles, Maddie Wright and I were honoured to represent  the College  at the Salford Park ANZAC ceremony. Past war veterans led the ceremony, some of whom told us their stories and involvement in the military.  The guest speaker was Brigadier (retired) Konrad Ermert who addressed the service on the theme: 'Lest We Forget -What?'. Mr Michael Harvey played the 'Last Post' as the conclusion to the service.  We were invited to morning tea , and we were able talk with the veterans to look at some of their medals and hear the explanation of the significance of each medal.

The College held their ANZAC day assemblies on 26th April.  They were a moving tribute to the ANZACS and helped students understand more about this important part of our history.  Students presented a range of readings that helped students visualise the impact of war. Guest Speaker  Habibullah Mohammadi told of his experiences in his war torn homeland and Mr Ross Pearson spoke about the experiences of his family.  We were privileged to have three veterans from Salford Park attend the assemblies.  All students respected the occasion and now have a better understanding of why we remember ANZAC day.
