Library

BooBook borrowing while we are still remote learning:

Thank you so much to the families that have started to use this service. If you haven’t tried it out, this is what you do:

  • Log in to SIMON.
  • Under the tab “School Links Junior School”  look for Orbit or “Senior School Library” look for Oliver.

Both these locations give access to Oliver which is our Library management system.

You can search the catalogue without logging in, but to request a  book that shows as available, or reserve a book that is on loan, or save your search results students need to log in.

  • The user ID for this is the 5 digit SIMON ID which can be found on your student profile in SIMON.
  • The password is either one you have already set, or you need to choose the forgotten password button. You will get an email response and you should then set up a password of your choice. This can be your usual school password.
  • Select your books. We will see this in the system. We will find your books and lend them to you.
  • Your books will then be placed on a table inside the Senior School Library main entrance for collection. They are available for collection between 2pm and 3.30 pm on Thursdays and Fridays or by arrangement.
  • Returns can be placed in the external slot outside the Senior Library (just before you get to the veranda as you come in in near the main gate on Chaucer Street!) or in the tub provided on the table where the lending books await you.

Please note: It is critical that all loans and returns are processed by the Library staff to reduce risk.

Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge:

All students from Prep to Year 8 have been enrolled and their username and password sent to them via school email. Students in Year 9 and 10 may wish to join. Please ask me to sign you up. We have 10 students who have logged books: Tom Templeton, Harley Kearns, Will Balkin, Evie Kennedy, Harriet Nicholls, Molly Mecham, Maggie Bourke, Fay Harjanto, Charlie Mahar and Isobel Mecham. Well done to all of you – reading is a simple and powerful way to develop your skill set!

Research Support:

Your school library may be a long way from where you are studying but we are always here for you at the end of an email or a Teams request. We have resources accessible to you from all the places we saw during Senior School Assembly this week. If you need to find something, please ask!

Best wishes to all families working so hard to ensure that all of us are safe and still learning.
