Thank you to all our Special friends and Dads who attended our Father’s Day Breakfast and Mass last Friday.  It was wonderful to see so many of you at school early in the morning. Your time with the children was treasured as many of them  were excited that their family member was present.

This Sunday’s Gospel  -  Luke 15: 1- 10

The tax collectors and the sinners were all seeking the company of Jesus to hear what he had to say and the Pharisees and the scribes complained. ‘This man’ they said ‘welcomes sinners and eats with them.’ So he spoke this parable to them:

‘What man among you with a hundred sheep, losing one, would not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness and go after the missing one till he found it? And when he found it, would he not joyfully take it on his shoulders and then, when he got home, call together his friends and neighbours? “Rejoice with me,” he would say “I have found my sheep that was lost.” In the same way, I tell you, there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one repentant sinner than over ninety-nine virtuous men who have no need of repentance.

‘Or again, what woman with ten drachmas would not, if she lost one, light a lamp and sweep out the house and search thoroughly till she found it? And then, when she had found it, call together her friends and neighbours? “Rejoice with me,” she would say “I have found the drachma I lost.” In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing among the angels of God over one repentant sinner.’

Reflection  by Lisa Calderone

The woman searching for the lost coin is an image of God – the One who loves us, sees us as precious, knows we are lost, and searches for us until we are found.

When have you felt ‘lost’?  When have you felt far away from God?  Do you feel that way now?  If so, what is it like?  How does it affect your life?  If not, what happened to bring you back to God?

The woman searching for the lost coin can also be an image of us – one who sees a friend who is in trouble, or lost, who knows that the friend is precious, and who goes after that friend in the hope of being supportive until that friend can come around.

When have you been that kind of support for a friend or a family member?  What happened?

Lots of problems can bring us down so that we become depressed; develop unhealthy attitudes, behaviours or addictions; and start to mess up our life.

When have you needed some kind of special help or support during a ‘lost’ time in your life? When were you the lost coin? Who searched high and low looking for you, trying to bring you back?

Exciting News! Exciting News!

In Term 4, the Year 6 Social Justice Leaders, Daniel, Tammy and Milica, will be organising a whole school drive for the community in Bua Province Fiji. These families are in need of basic stationery supplies for their children’s education and would sincerely appreciate our assistance.

We are hoping to help this community by bringing any spare, clean, good condition stationery supplies you may have at home which could be donated to our Bua Province families in Fiji.

Of course, if you wish, you may purchase any stationery supplies and send  them to school with your child to be placed in the  box in your child’s classroom.

The stationery supplies required include pens, pencils, coloured pencils, rulers, lunchboxes, backpacks, water bottles, rubbers, sharpeners, glue, blu tac, scissors, and pencil cases.

We urge you to please help us make a difference to these children in the Bua Province, Fiji.

Wishing you all a very happy and safe holiday with your family and friends.

God Bless
